Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) still have a chance of qualifying for the playoffs of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, but they will have to beat Mumbai Indians (MI) when the two teams clash at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad. MI have already made it through, thanks to their impressive win against Delhi Daredevils (DD) in their previous match. SRH mentor VVS Laxman says that his side are not worried about the points table and believes that if they execute their plans, they will get the desired results. SRH are currently in the fourth position with 13 points from 12 matches. MI, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) occupy the first three slots. “We are not thinking too much about the points table. We just want to take each game as it comes,” Laxman said. “We know that our next game against Mumbai Indians is an important game. Once we execute our plans, I am sure we will get the desired results,” added. SRH suffered their first defeat at home when they failed to chase down 149 against RPS. However, Laxman defends the batting line-up saying, “The batsmen have done well this season and it was a tough wicket to bat on yesterday [against RPS],” Laxman said.
“It [batsmen getting out] happens when you are looking to chase down a total and when the asking rate is above 10 or 12 and you have to play shots at that moment. While doing that, you can get out. But, we are very confident with our batting group,” Laxman said.
Laxman also confirmed that Ashish Nehra’s injury is yet to be assessed. Nehra had to leave the field against RPS due to a hamstring injury.
